Shanghai small electronic waste recycling self-help system is gradually improving
2021-09-26
On the eve of the plenary session of the CPPCC municipal committee this year, Zheng Huiqiong and Cao Amin, members of the CPPCC municipal committee, submitted a proposal on "suggestions on the recycling of small electronic waste such as mobile phones. A few days ago, the Municipal Commission of Commerce revealed in its reply to the proposal that in the construction of e-waste recycling outlets for the municipal government's practical project last year, the city completed the establishment of 2023 small e-waste self-service recycling bins.
At present, the recycling of small electronic wastes such as mobile phones, digital products and electronic toys in Shanghai is mainly carried out by small merchants and hawkers, and a small amount enters the second-hand market. Its recovery and treatment methods are at a relatively low level, and the heavy metals (mercury, selenium, cadmium, lead, chromium, arsenic, etc.) contained in this type of electronic waste pose a serious hazard to the living environment and human health. Low-level recycling and non-professional demolition have caused serious environmental pollution.
In the proposal, two members, Zheng Huiqiong and Cao Amin, proposed to construct a self-help system specifically for the recycling of small electronic wastes such as mobile phones and explore a new mechanism for the recycling of small electronic wastes in the community, aiming at the current situation of small electronic wastes with small emissions, relatively scattered emissions, certain difficulties in centralized recycling and lack of supervision on the direction of recycling.
